When The Sky Cries Rainbows Album Cover

Congratulations to Sandy Evans for winning the 2011 Air Award for Best Independent Jazz Album for ‘When The Sky Cries Rainbows’.

I was thrilled to do the album artwork for this extraordinary album, and I am very much looking forward to hearing it performed this Sunday at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival.

It was one of those freakish coincidences – Sandy emailed me about coming up with an idea for a cover just after Ali had been drawing rainbows with chalk outside my studio. It was about to rain so I quickly drew some some rainbows, grabbed the camera and waited for the first raindrops…

Yarn bombing at the Stitched Up Festival – Part 2

July 1st, 2011

Here is our contribution to the ‘Dress the Town’ feature of Wangaratta’s Stitched Up festival.
For those of you who contributed but won’t make it to the festival, I have taken lots of pics so you will hopefully spot your bits.

Big Thanks to everyone who knitted, crocheted, embroidered, pom-pommed, and donated wool. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Special thanks to Jude for stitching most of it together, and to her, Sal, Linz and Beck for helping to install it.
Special thanks also to Eileen for knitting so much and so beautifully.
Thanks also to Lisbeth, Sally, Kay, Lynne, the pom-pom kids, Wiebke, Phoebe, Anita, Beck, Sarah, Denise, Beth, The Skinner knitting circle, Nicki, and Ali.

Enjoy.

new ‘If I had a boat’

June 15th, 2011

Here is the 3-colour linocut version of ‘If I had a boat’. It’s hand-burnished on hosho paper. It’s a follow up to the lithograph I’ve described in a previous post. It’s also my submission for this week’s Illustration Friday topic,  which is ‘launch’.
